The photos here are from an acid stain done in a basement that has a tendancy to flood. The homeowner was looking for a floor that would be low maintenance, have the coloring of a rich wood but most importantly be able to get wet. What we gave them was a beautiful black acid stain that captures the deep reddish brown tones of a wood floor. Acid stain come in a variety of colors that often represent earth tones or colors found in natural materials.

Acid Stain is a very unique coloring system. Acid Stain is not a paint or a coating agent. It is a  coloring process that involves a chemical reaction on a cementitious material. A solution made with water, acid and inorganic sea salts reacts with minerals already present in the concrete, the result of this reaction is color.  Acid stain works well on new or old concrete, but tends to be best on a concrete overlay. Acid Stain is a very durable product when properly protected with a sealer, and it can be applied to both interiors and exteriors.
